Originally intended as a documentary about the rise of the Black Panther party in Illinois, Fred Hampton, the chapter's chairman, was notoriously killed by police during the filming.
The Monday night August. 30th screening takes place on what would've been Hampton's 73rd birthday.
This screening is co-sponsored and presented in the sprawling outdoor space of Nowadays, a breezy beer garden hangout located on the border of Bushwick, Brooklyn, and Ridgewood, Queens.
Special thanks to curator Gabriele Caroti.
