Answering the question of “Do Black cowboys exist?” BLACK RODEO documents the first-time ever performance of an all African-American starring 1971 rodeo that took place at Randall's Island, NY right near Harlem.  Bronco riding, calf roping, brahma bull riding -  these 50 Black rodeo riders from Texas, Oklahoma, California, Illinois and Michigan, along with Connecticut, New Jersey and even New York, shine an impressive light using skills audience members didn’t know existed through Black faces.

A captivating documentary film, it presents an unforgettable scene of boxing legend "The Greatest" Muhammad Ali riding on a majestic horse along the vibrant 125th Street, the beating heart of Harlem. It also introduces distinguished acting virtuoso and cowboy, Woody Strode, known for his outstanding performances in acclaimed movies such as "Once Upon a Time in the West" and "Sergeant Rutledge." In Black Rodeo, Strode takes on the role of a narrator, guiding his audience through a thoughtful exploration of the rich history of the African American cowboy, delving into the significance of this captivating event.
