After Emma (Clarisse Albrecht), a French woman of African descent, travels from France to the Dominican Republic, she gets arrested for drug trafficking, but escapes custody and finds refuge with three minors in the most dangerous district of Santo Domingo.  Becoming both their protégée and maternal figure, Emma’s destiny decisively changes in what Sight & Sound calls “a thoughtful meditation on the diasporic connection between Africa and the Caribbean.”

The peaceful life of Georges, an introverted French Guyanese teenager, gets complicated when he falls in love with Gisele, a dreamy girl who hopes to see Paris more than anything.

The Caribbean Film Series is an ongoing program of Third Horizon, The Luminal Theater, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
