NIYA
directed by Yusuf Al-Rahman and Hasan Muhammad
“The path to hell is filled with good intentions.”
Yusuf is a successful Muslim financial advisor that doesn’t compromise with things that will lower his self respect. His beloved wife, Anisa, is the strong, loving, and caring middle school teacher that’s the backbone of their family. But when he unexpectedly loses his job and cannot find another due to anti-Mulsim descrimination, Yusef keeps the company of a very unsavory Muslim, Dawood, who aids in lowering his morality and tests the faith of his marriage. Yusef must choose between losing himself for a lucrative job or keeping his morality and declining the job to return home to his beloved family.
A special poetry reading by writer Lisa Muhammad opens the film.
